Mexican Fried Rice

What I like about mexican fried rice are the peppers on it. The peppers just bring out the flavor. Anyone wants some?

Asian Style Fried Rice

I ran out of rice.... a tragedy! lol

Seriously, I forgot to buy rice and when I found this box in my counter, I decided to cook it. Well, being a Filipino, this is not the best fried rice. I don't have a choice though as I don't have other rice... this is still rice it just taste different.

For people who is used to eating good fried rice (like filipino fried rice), this product is not a good substitute. But for somebody whose staple food is not rice, then I think this is a good one because it already has chicken and veggies on them. But for me..... I would rather have jasmine rice!

Rice and Gravy

I eat a lot of rice. Being a Filipino, eating rice three times a day is natural. I eat rice on everything. My husband has learned to eat more rice too. He likes to eat his rice with gravy. I prefer mine to be plain.

Sometimes, I make homemade gravy. For the times that I want it easy, this is hubby's favorite gravy...

Shrimp Fried Rice

I always love fried rice. When I was in the Philippines, where I seldom cook because I was "spoiled", my sister always requests for me to cook garlic fried rice because that was what I was good at! I don't want to sound conceited but I can make a good fried rice.

Anyway, I seldom cook fried rice here because I don't have left over rice...lol! The secret to a very good fried rice is making sure that you use a day old left over rice. Freshly cooked rice will make the fried rice mushy.

Ingredients:
left over rice
shrimp
garlic
pepper
green onion (minced)
salt
soysauce or fish sauce
carrots
peas
oil

Directions:
  • Heat oil in the wok and cook shrimp. Set aside.
  • With the remaining oil cook egg. Set aside and sliced.
  • Using a bigger wok, heat oil and saute garlic and green onions. Add rice. Cook until you can hear the rice sizzle.
  • Season with soysauce ( I prefer fish sauce). Add carrots and peas. Cook until veggies are halfway done.
  • Add shrimps and egg. Mixed well and season with pepper.
  • Cook until rice is really hot and serve.
Note: Don't stir the rice too much.
