Food Trip Friday # 18

I went to the nearest Filipino store and I found this ripe mango. This is actually a product of Mexico but this is the closest I can get that taste like our mango in the Philippines. The Philippine mango taste better but this is also good. It is sweet and it has the smell of a ripe mango.

Broiled Flounder

I never had flounder so Dave insisted that I should buy it. From the looks of it (and the price), I will not buy it. Flounder is a bit pricey but Dave insisted that I should try so we bought 1 Flounder fish.

Dave told me that he used to eat flounder and it is really good. He couldn't wait for me to try it. I wanted to grill it but since I have lazy bones in me (lol), I don't want to do the charcoal grilling for one piece of fish. I then decided to just broil it in the oven.

Ingredients:
1 Flounder
powdered garlic
garlic salt
pepper

Directions:
  • Preheat oven to broil
  • Put two slits on the body of the fish on both sides. Season the whole fish with garlic salt, garlic powder and pepper. Place in a cookie sheet.
  • Broil for 10 minutes. Turn over and broil some more.
  • Serve with dip ( a mixture of soysauce, vinegar, tomato, onion, pepper)

Note: Time of broiling varies so just keep on checking your oven.

Fish... and More Fish!

Before we went home from our Mobile trip, we loaded up with a lot of fish and shrimp. It is cheaper in Mobile and there are a lot of choices. We are fortunate to find a seafood place that sells everything that I want... so take a look at what I bought...

Bass

Flounder

Perch (It looks like tilapia)

White Trout

Did you know that eating fish is good for your health? It is recommended to eat fish so that your body can get fish oils, which are essential for heart, brain, joint and digestive health.

Donuts

I love donuts. When we were in Mobile, the Krispy Kreme outlet is just a few blocks away from where we stayed. Gosh, I can feel my mouth watering every time we pass the store. So finally, we bought half a dozen of freshly bake, fresh from the oven and still hot donuts.... Believe me... I ate and ate and enjoyed it a lot! Yummyyy!

Food Trip Friday #17

It is Friday and I can't wait to get home... I am looking forward to cook some blue crabs at my own kitchen tonight.

Anyway, my entry for this week is Pork BBQ in sticks! On every party that we have here with my Filipino friends we always have this. The good thing with BBQ sticks is... this is delicious and all our American husbands love this too.
