Food Trip Friday # 7

Food Trip

It's Friday again my fellow food trippers. Check the entries for this week at Food Trip Friday and if you want, join the fun and let's go food tripping!

Here's my entry....

MAJA BLANCA

Maja Blanca is one of the easiest Filipino dessert to make. This is served in most Filipino gatherings. So, whenever we have get together here, maja blanca is always present.

(Note: I usually top my maja blanca with grated cheese or crushed peanuts.)

I edited this post as Mommy Clarissa wants the recipe (wink)

Ingredients :
1 c. of cornstarch
1 250 ml. sweetened condensed milk
1 c. of coconut milk
1 c. of water
1 425 g. can of cream-style corn
1/2 tsp. of butter, softened
a pinch of salt
Toppings: grated cheese, crushed peanuts, crush pecans (optional)

Directions:
  • Grease the bottom and sides of a 6″ x 10″ ceramic baking dish with the softened butter. Set aside.
  • Mix water and cornstarch thoroughly. Add coconut milk, salt and cream-style corn.
  • Cook over medium fire, stirring frequently to avoid lumping.
  • When the mixture becomes thick, remove from heat and add condensed milk.
  • Return to the stove and cook over low heat stirring frequently until milk is well blended with the mixture.
  • Pour in the buttered dish. Top with desired toppings.
  • Let cool. Serve or chill.
***For a creamier result, substitute water with coconut milk.
